Komodo Island

Daddy,

I am sailing aboard the Oceania ship now. We were in Komodo Island the other day. Mummy told me that you have talked about going there someday. You didn't get the chance to do it. Me too. I didn't get to go out because I didn't book a tour and they would only allow tour bookings to leave the ship. So I stayed in and saw photos from guests. The dragons were huge.

I wished you could see this. I wished you could sail with me.

I still haven't gotten over you, Daddy. I don't think I ever will. I don't want to.

I carry your name.

And everywhere I go, I carry the lessons you taught me about life. Mostly - to be humble. To be kind to everyone. To say thank you. To bow and be courteous.

I will come back to Komodo Island someday. I will bring you here then.

I don't know if you're seeing me or watching me. But I hope you are. If you are, can you please show me a sign? Tell me that you're still here listening to me.

I meet all these people in the ship. They tell me tales of their travels. It would be nice if you were here with me. So you could share your tales too.

Tonight while walking back to my cabin. I saw a body lying on the floor. I ran to it. It was a man lying face down. I attended to him and thank goodness he was breathing. I quickly ran to reception and shouted for help. Then I ran back to the man and sat by him. I pat his head and back and told him that it's going to be okay. I guess that's the only thing we can do isn't it. To hope and believe that everything is going to be okay. Help came and they attended to him. I hope he is okay. I believe he is.

Feeling a body beside me, in my arm, in my hand. It brings me back to memories...

Daddy. Tell me you're okay. Tell me you're happy. Tell me you're still around.
